After six years as an officer in the German Army and having subsequently attended the faculties of law at the German Universities of Frankfurt am Main and Freiburg im Breisgau, Mr. Olaf KOEHLER took the German 1st Legal State Examination in 1994. After another two-and-a-half years of legal clerkship within the Frankfurt Appellate Court’s domain of responsibility, and one semester advanced studies at the German University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer, he took the 2nd Legal State Examination in 1997 and became a fully qualified German lawyer with the qualifications of judgeship, being a public prosecutor and an advocate. Mr. KOEHLER was admitted at the Frankfurt Bar in 1997 and changed to the Karlsruhe Bar in 1999 when he became co-owner of a cross-regional law firm. Until 2008 he acted as a legal practitioner with focus on forensic civil actions for eleven years. Since 2008, Mr. KOEHLER has been serving the investment fund industry in several capacities, inter alia as structuring lawyer, managing director or investment fund liquidator. Before having become Chief Executive Officer of BENDURA FUND MANAGEMENT BETA, Mr. KOEHLER was in charge of the Depositary & Security Issuer Services Department of BENDURA BANK, the Liechtenstein based 100%-owner of his current company.
Aside his experience as an advocate and in the investment fund industry, Mr. KOEHLER holds a University Diploma as a Certified Liechtenstein Expert in Trust Services, took the Liechtenstein Trustee Exam in 2011 and was managing director of a Liechtenstein trustee company for three years. On grounds of his German admission as an advocate and pursuant to the laws of the European Union and the European Economic Area, Mr. KOEHLER is an „Established European Lawyer“ in the Principality of Liechtenstein. He is a member of the Karlsruhe Bar Association (Germany) and of the Liechtenstein Bar Association.
